I am excited to welcome you to the Faculty of Engineering and Technology (FET) of the Vaal University of Technology. By enrolling in an engineering programme, you have taken an important step toward achieving your educational and career goals. Whether your next step after our engineering technology programmes is further education or the workplace, you will find that your First-Year Programme in your corresponding discipline has been designed to enhance your knowledge and skills in ways that will prepare you for both these goals.

In the first engineering year, you will explore and plan your academic and career pathway, strengthen your learning skills, and develop effective strategies for achieving your goals. To help you become a member of the faculty community, your facilitators and orientation coordinators will also engage you in activities that will connect you to your fellow students, FET and staff members. I encourage you to get involved in the many rich learning opportunities that await you during your first year on our beautiful campus. You will be introduced to VUT’s campus resources and to the faculty and staff who are here to guide and support you along your pathway. The FET has so much to offer to its engineering students. I hope you will take full advantage of its services and ask for any assistance that you may need.
